In addition to her working with high school students, Deborah was selected by leaders in the Oregon Legislature to be a member of the Legislature’s Workforce Taskforce in 2005 and continues to work with the team in Salem. She has authored or co-authored legislation for school safety (signed into law by Governor John Kitzhaber in 2000) and career and technical education for Oregon.

She represents Milwaukie on the Community Solutions group regarding the County’s wastewater treatment project, the Harmony Road solutions process and support the library as a member of the Friends of the Ledding Library. She produced the Willamette Reader television program to encourage students to read.

Her three daughters graduated from the North Clackamas School District. Her oldest grandson has begun kindergarten in the district and will soon be followed by his younger sister and his cousin.
