The
Ardenwald/Johnson Creek (AJC) Neighborhood District Association (NDA) is an
officially recognized NDA in both the City of Milwaukie and the City of
Portland. This means that it does have membership of residents who live within
the boundaries of both cities and therefore it participates in Milwaukie's
Neighborhoods Program as well as Portland's SE Uplift Neighborhood
Program.
The Ardenwald-Johnson Creek NDA maintains their own website. Please visit it
here: www.ardenwald.org
A few of the most recent programs and events in the AJC Neighborhood
primarily funded by Milwaukie's Neighborhood Matching Grant Program include:
Concerts in the Park - Concerts are sponsored by the AJC throughout
the summer in Ardenwald Park to promote the unity of the neighborhood.
Summer Reading Program - This program is meant to improve the
reading and listening skills of children. Books are bought and given to
children who want to participate and volunteers are recruited to read and
listen to the children.
Holiday Party - AJC sponsors a Holiday Party in lieu of their
December meeting each year in order to bring people in the community
together and promote the neighborhood association.
Bylaws: Given Ardenwald/JC's unique relationship with Portland they
currently operate under two sets of bylaws. One set that governs their
relationship with Portland (Portland/Milwaukie
Bylaws) and the other that
governs their relationship with Milwaukie's Neighborhoods Program (Milwaukie's
Bylaws).
Meetings: Held on second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at
Ardenwald Elementary School located at 8950 SE 36th
