Council Seeking Advisory Committee for Next Downtown Development Project

The City of Milwaukie and Metro each own a half of a full city block in the heart of Downtown Milwaukie and are partnering to attract a development project that builds on the momentum created by the nearby North Main Project. Located on the corner of Harrison Street and the newly refurbished McLoughlin Boulevard, this project will likely feature retail uses on the bottom floor with dwelling units on the upper floors that will provide spectacular views of the Willamette River. Like the North Main Project, this development is a monumental step in the continued revitalization of Downtown. And like the North Main Project, City Council is asking Milwaukie citizens to serve a Project Advisory Committee that will review development proposals and then interview development teams before delivering a final recommendation.

Because of the joint ownership of the project, four seats are open for City representation, and four are reserved for Metro representation.

Those interested in serving this committee are asked to contact Public Information Coordinator Grady Wheeler at (503) 786-7503.

Nominations will be accepted through June 16, 2006. Council will appoint the four Milwaukie members on June 20, 2006.
