A common question popping up around town is, “When’s that Safeway store at King Road and 42nd Avenue going to get started?” The answer is, if everything goes according to plan, in mid-July. 

Safeway was pretty much ready to start awhile back, but then decided it wanted to reconstruct the gas station located on the corner of Harrison Street and 42nd Avenue. That application was approved by Milwaukie's Planning Commission on June 27th. Permits have been issued by the City and Safeway is expected to begin construction in August, and hopes to have the grocery store completed by the end of February.
