City Celebrates the Holiday Season

Celebrate the Holiday Season with your community by taking part in a pair of the City’s most revered traditions: The Umbrella Parade & City Hall Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Winter Solstice Celebration. 

The Umbrella Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8th and begin at 4 p.m. All are invited to join the Milwaukie High School Band as it parades through Downtown. Santa Claus will be on hand for the City Hall Tree Lighting Ceremony that will follow at 4:30 p.m.  Meet in the Waldorf School parking lot at 3:45 p.m. to take part in the parade. 

On Friday, Dec. 14th hundreds will gather at Milwaukie Riverfront Park adjacent to the Jefferson Street Boat Ramp to warm by the bonfire, enjoy hot libations and to watch the Portland Christmas Ship Parade cruise the Willamette River. People will begin congregating around 5 p.m. and this year the Dickens Carolers will perform from 5 to 6 p.m.
