Add Plastic Tubs to Your Recycling Efforts

Add Plastic Tubs to Your Recycling Efforts

Clackamas County is pleased to announce that plastic tubs and lids are now part of the recycling mix for homes and businesses.

Tubs got the “go ahead” because recent market studies found consistent U.S. markets for plastic tubs such as those used for yogurt, margarine, cottage cheese and salsa, and for “bucket-style” tubs used for cat litter, laundry detergent and the like. The tubs must be clean.

The recycling business is constantly changing. The aim is to recover more types of material from the garbage as better markets and technology become available. Plastic recycling is especially confusing. Some options exist for “other” plastics; they just don’t go in curbside or business recycling.
