City Council appoints Wilda Parks interim mayor

Thu Mar 26th, 2015

Citing her extensive experience working with the region’s business community and volunteering in the City, the four Milwaukie City Councilors unanimously appointed Wilda Parks to serve as the City’s interim Mayor during its Regular Session meeting of Feb. 17, 2015 in City Hall.

Parks will serve until the mayor elected in the May 19, 2015 election is sworn in at a Council Meeting in June 2015. Parks has been serving on the Milwaukie Planning Commission for the past two years.

“This is an incredible opportunity to provide a higher level of volunteer service working with an exceptional group of Council members and City staff to continue the positive momentum that is currently underway in Milwaukie,” said Parks. “I believe my 30-year history of working with businesses and my other volunteer service with the City and County will be assets in this interim position.”

Parks has volunteered in a variety of arenas including public policy, arts and humanities, education, tourism, business development, community theater, rescue animals and city, county, regional and state policy groups, including the Grow Oregon Council (Economic Gardening), Clackamas County Economic Development Commission, Clackamas County Cultural Coalition, and as the Clackamas County citizen representative to the Metro Policy Advisory Committee (MPAC).
