Water: A residential water bill is calculated from a fixed and variable cost. The fixed cost is based on your water meter size. The variable cost is charged per 100 cubic feet of water used or 748 gallons. The following table describes our current water rates, and the water rates that come into effect July 1st, 2010.
Most residential houses in the City of Milwaukie have a 5/8” X 3/4” water meter. Calculate your bill: If you have a 5/8” X 3/4" water meter and the usage in 100 CU. FT. on your bill is 12, the bi-monthly water bill June 30th 2010 would be: Fixed rate + (Consumption * Volume Rate) = Water Bill $7.61 + (12 * 1.73) = $28.37 Only $.23 for 100 gallons of water used! Wastewater: The residential Sewer bill is calculated from a fixed and variable cost. The fixed cost is $20.07 bi-monthly per dwelling unit. The volume cost for residential is $2.84 X winter average. If you are a new customer with no usage data, a winter average of 12 is used. The following table describes our current sewer rates which are billed bi-monthly. New sewer rates recently came into effect March 1st 2010.

Calculate your bill: Assuming a single family residence winter average is 12, the bi-monthly sewer bill June 30th would be: Fixed charge + (winter average * volume rate) = Sewer Bill $20.07 + (12 * $2.84) = $54.15 Wastewater Surcharge: Currently a wastewater surcharge is in place on the bill. For residential, this charge is $1.00 x winter average. If your winter average is 12, you will pay $12.00 bi-monthly for the wastewater surcharge fee. Storm: Your Storm fee is a fixed cost, and billed bi-monthly. New Storm rates typically come into effect July 1st, but they are not scheduled to increase on July 1st 2010. Calculate your bill: For single family residential the Storm fee is $19.80 bi-monthly. For a duplex, the Storm bill is 2 X $19.80, or $39.60. Street: The Street Maintenance Fee is a fixed cost. The street maintenance fee for residential is a set amount, and does not increase annually. Calculate your bill: For single family residences the charge is $6.70 bi-monthly For Multi-Family Residences the charge is $4.20 bi-monthly for each dwelling unit. Average Single Family Residence Bill: The average single family residence uses 1,200 Cubic Feet of water bi-monthly and has a 5/8”x3/4” meter. This customer’s June 30th 2010 utility bill would be: Water: $7.61 + (12 * $1.73) = $28.37 Sewer: $20.07 + (12 * $2.84) = $54.15 Storm: $19.80 Street: $6.70 WW Surcharge: $12.00 Total Amount Due: $121.02
